Bexley Child & Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS)


Full Time: 37.50 hours per week

 A very exciting opportunity has arisen to join Bexley CAMHS at a time of change. We are initiating a whole service improvement to the patient journey, enabling children and families to access help earlier and enabling staff to have job plans better tailored to their expertise and development.

We seek to appoint an enthusiastic and dynamic Nurse/ Occupational Therapist or Social worker to provide a highly specialist service for young people in the Borough of Greenwich.

You will need to have excellent therapeutic skills and be responsive and flexible in your approach to working with young people and the adolescent team.

The current opportunities are as follows:

Learning Disability/Neurodevelopmental (LDND) Pathway (2.0 wte, permanent)

We are also seeking to appoint a qualified Nurse/OT/Social Worker within the Learning Disability/Neurodevelopmental Team of Bexley CAMHS working with children and young people with both -learning disabilities and/or neuro developmental disorders and mental health difficulties, as well as with their families. The post holder will work within the LDND multi-disciplinary team in Specialist CAMHS based at Acorns purpose-built child-development centre at Queen Mary’s Hospital in Sidcup alongside teams providing Paediatrics, Speech and Language Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Audiology, Physiotherapy, Dietetics, etc. They will provide triage, assessments and time-limited evidence-based interventions, including CBT. Innovative service developments are encouraged and there is opportunity for facilitating groups for young people and for parents, and for offering consultation and training to professional colleagues working with the client group in partner agencies, in particular schools.

Assessment and treatment pathway (2.0wte permanent)

We seek to appoint two full time band 6 Nurse/OT/Social Worker to work within the multidisciplinary team providing assessment and treatment to children and families with a wide range of mental health problems (from mild to severe). You would work in a large friendly MDT alongside other clinical psychologists at bands 7, 8a and 8b as well as colleagues from other disciplines. Innovative service developments are encouraged, and we are keen to enable clinicians to develop job plans that offer opportunities for development of skills and interests. The current service improvement means all staff will be able to have job plans which include clear expectations for numbers of clinical contacts, types of work (e.g. assessment, core intervention and ongoing specialist therapy) and caseload size.
