Oxleas NHS Foundation Trust, formed in April 1995, is a provider of general mental health services for Bromley, Bexley and Greenwich, and a specialist provider of Forensic and Challenging Behaviour services for Bexley, Greenwich, Lewisham, North Southwark, Bromley, and Learning Disability Services for Greenwich, Bexley and Bromley. Over recent years the Trust has expanded its range of services and now provides Community Health Services in Bexley and Greenwich and a wide range of Prison/forensic services (physical and mental health) in Kent. The Trust was rated as a 3 star organisation for 3 consecutive years and became one of the country’s first mental health foundation trusts in May 2006. Oxleas has been at the forefront of IT developments, New Ways of Working for the Psychiatrists and NICE Guidelines implementation. It was the first Mental Health Trust in London to fully implement RiO as part of London Programme for IT and has since developed its own software solution for electronic records, Oxleas RiO. The Older People’s Mental Health Service, has been rated good across all domains in our recent CQC inspection.

Oxleas offers a wide range of health and social care to people living in South East London including: community health care, learning disability services and mental health care such as psychiatry, nursing and psychological therapy. Our multidisciplinary teams look after people of all ages and we work closely with other parts of the NHS, local authorities and voluntary organisations. We care for people in many different settings such as hospitals, health centres and in people’s homes. We manage hospitals including Queen Mary’s Hospital in Sidcup and Memorial Hospital in Greenwich as well as the Bracton Centre, our medium secure unit for people with mental health needs. We also provide healthcare to prisoners across South East London and Kent. We are one of the largest providers of prison healthcare and work with arrange of organisations to give prisoners the physical and mental healthcare they need.

We employ around 3,600 members of staff including nurses, doctors, therapists, healthcare assistants and social workers. We were rated 'Good' across all domains by the CQC in 2017.As an organisation Oxleas sees itself as offering the best practice in ‘needs led technology’ that has been implemented through the electronic care records, and an intranet system to support best clinical practice. The trust has a successful track record in submitting bids for new, innovative service developments.

Oxleas NHS Foundation Trust is expanding its perinatal mental health services as a result of a successful application to NHS England’s Perinatal Mental Health Community Perinatal Mental Health Services Development Fund (Wave 2). Bromley has an existing small perinatal mental health team. The funding will ensure a comprehensive perinatal mental health service across the three South East London boroughs covered by the Trust. This is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and motivated psychiatrist to join the new Bexley, Bromley & Greenwich Perinatal Mental Health Service as a 6 PA Substantive Consultant for the Bexley Perinatal Mental Health Team. The post holder will provide leadership and clinical expertise to the new Bexley Perinatal Mental Health Team. They will work collaboratively with others in the Bexley, Bromley & Greenwich Perinatal Mental Health Service, professionals from other services (e.g. maternity services and health visiting) and with our experts by experience, to build on the achievements to date and continue to develop this high quality service to ensure excellent outcomes for women and their families.

Please note that Oxleas NHS Foundation Trust operates a probationary period.  Further details are available on request.
