Primary Care Nurse, Band 5

Full Time: 37.5 hours per week

Prison Nursing ‘Open doors to your new nursing career’

We’re recruiting now for full time (37.5 hours per week) Band 5 RGN primary care nurses to work within our prison services in Greenwich cluster.

Every day is different for a prison nurse, as you’ll work within varied roles including:

  • Primary care nursing
  • Minor injuries and illnesses
  • Emergency and urgent care
  • Health assessment and wellbeing checks
  • Long term conditions

We are a multi-disciplinary team collaborating with other services like GP, Optometry, Dentist, Podiatry, Physiotherapy, Sexual health, Substance Misuse and Mental health.

Oxleas NHS Foundation Trust is the main provider of prison healthcare in a variety of different prisons in the Royal Borough of Greenwich, London Borough of Wandsworth and across the county of Kent, Including high security, remand, foreign nationals and women.

To help us deliver our extensive range of services, you’ll be a qualified registered nurse (RGN) with a passion to deliver high-quality clinical care and a commitment to the rehabilitation of offenders. You’ll be self-motivated, have a sound knowledge base and excellent communications skills. Experience of working within the prison environment is not necessary as full induction and training will be provided.

Applications are welcomed from those currently working within primary care, a physical health environment or substance misuse background. If you can work autonomously, are a good team player and have plenty of initiative when it comes to handling a wide range of situations, then we’d welcome your application.

You’ll be fully supported to develop your Oxleas career further and receive a great package of benefits including free parking and gym access.

Whilst this campaign is focussed on RGNs we do also employ RMNs and RNLDs in our prison services so feel free contact us about what opportunities could be available in those fields.

Oxleas NHS Trust operates a Probationary Period, further details are available on request.
