Primary Mental Health Nurse, Band 5

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a  Band 5 RMN or RNLD positions for our Primary care mental health Services at the Greenwich cluster (HMP Belmarsh). This post holder will be an essential team player, and a source of daily support and advice as part of Mental Health Team, prison staff & offenders working as part of the team to provide the highest standards of care for the mental/physical health & well-being of offenders in the department, reporting to operational management and the day-to-day leadership of the Mental Health Greenwich Cluster of Prisons.

We are seeking to appoint a qualified RMN with experience in any of the following areas:-

  • Learning Disability
  • Personality Disorder
  • Substance Misuse/Dual Diagnosis
  • Mentally Disordered Offenders
  • Experience of working within secure & prison settings (desirable)
  • Working knowledge of current issues/agendas facing prison/offender healthcare
  • Experience of multi-professional collaboration including working in partnership with other statutory and voluntary organisations.

In addition to the above an in-depth knowledge of the Care Programme Approach (CPA) and experience of working and supervising staff within a multi-disciplinary team. The successful candidate will need to demonstrate excellent communication skills both written and verbal and in particular management of patients within secure locations. Experience in prisons would be advantageous.

The successful post holder will be required to pass all prison security including CTC clearance.

Working hours are 9-5 Monday - Friday.

This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (Amendment) (England and Wales) Order 2020 and it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service.
